A. Minor Irrigation :

Minor Irrigation Department is engaged in construction of community Irrigation Gul /hauge in District Tehri-Garhwal.

In hilly region, farmers are cultivating mostly on old pattern. There are dependent mostly on rainwater for cultivation (i.e. construction of gul/hauge). Hence, agriculture production is quite meager to meet the requirements of Livelihood. Therefore, through execution of these schemes and by adopting new agriculture technology, production of cash crops and fruits an be enhanced so as to enable expected betterment in the standard of Living of the farmers.

Therefore, under “Rashtriya Sam Vikas Yojna” constructions of new Gul/ Hauz and field channels (Guls) have been proposed to irrigate new areas. By expending the cost of the project amounting to Rs. 250.91 Lacs, for about 34.53 Kms. Gul and 20 hauge will be constructe to create irrigation facilities covering to 186.25 hectares of land. The major objective is to expand the cash crop production area which would, in turn, enhance the standard of living of the people of this region. These schemes have been aimed at completing in three consecutive years starting from the year 2004-05, so as to make water available for irrigation.

B. Govt. Irrigation:

Govt. Irrigation Department is engaged in construction and maintenance of Irrigation canals / field channels in District Tehri-Garhwal. In hilly region, farmers are cultivating mostly on old pattern and striving mostly on rainwater. Hence, agriculture production is quite meager to meet the requirements of livelihood. Therefore, by expanding irrigated area and by adopting new agriculture technology, production of cash crops and fruits can be enhanced so as to enable expected betterment in the standard of living of the farmers.

Therefore, under “Rashtriya Sam Vikas Yojna” constructions of new canals and field channels have been proposed to compensate for the loss of irrigation in the absence of the field channels. By expanding the cost of the project amounting to Rs. 200.00 lacs, for about 29.04 Kms. canal lengths will be constructed to create irrigation facilities covering around 170 hectares. These schemes/projects have been aimed at completing in three consecutive years starting from the year 2004-05, so as to make water available for irrigation.
