60% of the urban and rural areas of the district Tehri Garhwal is affected from water scarcity due to shortage and drying up of natural sources. In water scarce areas the installation of hand pump is an economical method. To shortage of drinking water in the rural and urban areas of the district, (mostly in summer season) the required water is supplied through the water tankers, though it is not an economical method as compared to Hand Pumps.
Hence it is proposed to construct and install hand pumps in water scarce area.
